The Burren is a Magical Place
A lot of people come here to reconnect with nature. Springtime is a very special time here when all the flowers are in bloom, but all seasons have their unique charm. The Burren Cliffs Of Moher Geopark has something to offer everybody. It is really up to you depending on how active or leisurely you want to spend your time. Hill walking, caving, mountain biking, (electric) biking, kayaking, surfing, rock climbing, foraging on the sea shore or a leisurely stroll on a quiet green road in the Burren National Park. A very popular place to visit is the majestic Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands just off the coast, with boats going from Doolin.
But it is not just about being out and about and being active. There are also great opportunities to relax and enjoy great food and discover why the the Burren Food Trail is the 2015 EDEN (European Destination of Excellence) winner of the Tourism and Local Gastronomy Award. If you are a golfer, the famous Links Course in Lahinch is only 20 minutes away.
Kilfenora is a village steeped in history. Adjacent to the Burren Centre is the 12th Century Cathedral which houses the remaining famous Kilfenora High Crosses. Just outside in a field, you find one of the High Crosses still in its original location. Kilfenora is also named the ‘Home of Ceili music’ with weekly dances in one of the pubs, where locals and guests enjoy set dancing to live music. The famous Kilfenora Ceili Band with musicians is passed on for generations is playing annually in the square at Kilfenora Traditional Festival each spring
